Recollections

First-Person Recollections from the Irvine Ranch

The Irvine Ranch was once one of the greatest ranches in California and, indeed, the United States.
The cities/communities that now contain land that was once part of the Irvine Ranch include Irvine, Tustin, Santa Ana, Newport Beach, Corona del Mar, Costa Mesa, Laguna Beach, parts of Lake Forest, and Silverado Canyon.

The writings contained in this section provide the reader with memories of the Irvine Ranch from the perspective of those with first-hand information gained through family connections or through working for the original Irvine Company.

These writings are of much greater consequence than those from many old newspaper articles and some books, for this information does not contain errors that eventually morphed into “truths.” This section will grow [as time permits] to include interviews with people whose lives centered around the Irvine Ranch and its operations.
